This is the second and final season of the all-too-brief children's serial, Kachchi Dhoop. Amol Palekar directs. Kachchi Dhoop was based on Little Women, but adapted to an Indian context. In the second set of episodes, the children take their sets toward a grown-up world, especially Bhagyashree's character, who finds herself reciprocating the affections of someone close to the family. How will her mother react when she finds out ?
Kachchi Dhoop is one of those serials that people just can't forget, and long to see time and again. It had a light touch despite its de-glamorized setting - how many directors can show a lower middle-class home without making it the object of pity and struggle ? It is similar to the homes that many of us grew up in, and just like in own childhoods, Kachchi Dhoop has a realistic dose of sunshine, laughter, and yes, sadness. That only makes it even more charming than today's overdone and loud serials.
A delightful series for children, loosely based on "Little Women", but with its own special charm
