Synopsis

This is one of Amitabh's landmark movies, but a warning to the viewers : don't think too hard. The film has all the well-worn cliches that someone looking for art-cinema might find annoying, but it is nonetheless great fun. Amitabh hams it up at his comedic best when he's not fighting crime syndicates, looking for his lost family and wooing a bevy of women. This trailer where Amitabh gets drunk "Thodi si jo pee lee hai" should serve as an acid test. If you don't like it, you won't enjoy the film

Amitabh has been so identified with the sophisticate and/or the angry avenger that people tend to forget that he can do comedy, and physical comedy at that. This movie shows him at his bumbling, awkward best. One can't help but smile when you see Amit having a grand old time as a pretend drunk -- and don't miss the dancing waiter in the background. If you like Peter Sellers, you might enjoy this.
