One of the greatest ever

Anand is a story about happiness. Feeling it, sharing it. At any cost. Bhaskar (Amitabh Bachchan), a melancholic doctor disgusted with disease and poverty has a chance meeting with Anand (Rajesh Khanna), a cancer patient who has only a few months to go. In that short time, Anand infuses life into Bhaskar and takes him on an unforgettable journey. Instead of thinking of the three months left in his life, Anand always looks at the thousands of moments yet to be lived.

Anand is a story about happiness, but it makes you cry bitterly at the end... in spite of the inspiring last line "Anand mara nahi. Anand marte nahi."

Anand – A good meaningful & thought provoking story, finest of acting’s and all time melodious songs and lyrics – All of this are true ingredients for a classic cult movie and that’s what Anand is! A movie on how life’s meant to be lived and having the right perspective to enjoy and tackle both the ups and downs, we all encounter in this very life. Throughout the movie subtle messages are given to the viewers through the character of Anand. Apart from thinking positive and loving life the way it is the emphasis was also on letting your ego off and doing what your heart desires to do. The ‘MurariLal’ character was introduced for the same. Many a times we see a stranger and feel like talking but we don’t. What stops us is our ego. Anand however goes ahead and initiates a talk. Yet another captivating scene – Anand goes to a saint to ask for a Boon and he says – Bless not my body but my soul. Give me the energy to talk endless but then make sure that I always talk good and never do I say anything hurting. Well a very influencing line. The film is Indian cinema personified and with a great soundtrack consisting of Manna Deys “Zindagi Kaisi hai paheli” , Mukesh’s “Meine tere lie” and “Kahin Door jab din”. Latas song “Jeeya Jaye Naa” is yet another ever green number and together they make the overall impact of the movie truly outstanding. Yes Anand is about an internal bliss and a story that will stay with you for a long time. The movie can be seen not once or twice but a number of times and each time would still feel as fresh as always and also give a whole lot of self learning and wisdom .
